Will your comment about recompiling the driver for a newer kernel still apply?
    Yessir!

Let us know how you get on.

Thanks guys, you help me a great deal with my new laptop.

I posted details about my laptop here, though i'll repeat my WiFi experience.

I downloaded this driver and ran these commands after extracting.

    Code:
    sudo su
    ./scripts/driver-select restore
    ./scripts/driver-select ath9k
    make clean
    make
    make install
    reboot
There was no need to edit code (may have been mentioned already in this thread), that driver and those commands all worked fine.

Thanks again to all those who contributed to fixing this.

    Re: Ubuntu 12.04 Wifi Drivers

Allright, so I'm having problems. I've followed this thread to the end, I've got a slightly different card- 9462 :0034 . I've been adjusting things as I go for that model, which is supported mostly in all of the drivers that I've been looking at. My problem is that I can't turn on the card. I was hoping that if I just installed the right driver magic would happen. So far though, no magic. Weird thing is that the bluetooth works just fine. Here's some tech specs.

    Code:
    uname -a
    Linux poopzilla 3.2.50 #1 SMP Sat Aug 3 12:23:28 PDT 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I'm on a toshiba a665d-so91. There's a little button to turn on the wifi, that isn't working, but will work on another wifi card no problem, so it's not that section of hardware. I would really appreciate any help that you could give me. I hate to just dump info onto here, but hopefully this will help with a solution.

Since you have a slightly different problem and a slightly different card, please start your own new thread. Include everything here plus:
    Code:
    lspci -nn | grep 0280
    uname -r
    Fascinating.
