    ubuntu compatible mp3 player

    Hey,

I'm looking to buy a new mp3 player and just wondered if anyone out there uses or used either:

    Sandisk Sansa Clip 2gb
    Sony NWDB105
    Creative Zen stone

Mainly looking for something small as im not a fan of big mp3 players like the ipod or the larger sony ones as it means the screen is bigger and more suscepible to knocks from goin to the gym and general use.

So far I am leaning towards the sandisk as its got loads of really good reviews but jsut wondered if its compatible with ubuntu, as my current iriver H10 is a bit iffy with ubuntu and takes ages to get songs on it.

Creative Zen 32GB is working fine with the latest version of ubuntu (8.04)
using Rythmbox with MTP plugin installed (using the Edit-Plugins in rythmbox)

Are you using this model of the Creative Zen?

I use an iPod with the open-source Rockbox firmware. I just drag music on and it scans the disk itself (and it supports FLAC!) It makes music management very easy. Rockbox supports a variety of players:

HI, You might want to look at the Cowon D2 - Sound is great, files are easy to load, it's small but has a touch screen. It also plays most audio formats. The Jet audio software works well also. It also has a SD card slot.

Another vote for the D2. Nice UI, superb sound quality and expandable memory via SD card. You can also install flash apps on it.

I have a Sansa Clip myself, and i can't recomment it. The sound is not good. My wife has a Creative Zen Stone Plus, and the sound is much better. Make sure you get the version with display (maybe only Plus have this) or selse it will be a nightmare to navigate.
