I don't know if it was just the reboot or if it was running the script a second time that fixed the problem.
There has been great progress, but I'm still not ready to use this system full-time. There are a couple of issues I've noticed immediately:
- the trackpad is absolutely terrible!
The trackpad does not work well at all with more than one finger on it. Some simple examples. Try to drag a window after clicking on the title bar; not possible. Another is right clicking; very finicky. Two-finger scrolling? Nope. I've also managed to get it to sporadically do things like highlight half this post and delete; I must have accidentally brushed my thumb on it.
- strange flicker
My terminal windows flicker and I'm not sure why. It's not only distracting, but a little disconcerting; is this a slightly-off setting in the i915 module? Is it a 3D issue?
- random crashes
Services simply crash unexplicably. The biggest offender is the zeitgeist daemon. I'm guessing this is more Oneiric's beta-ness rather than a MBA issue, but still a bit frustrating to have misc stuff just go belly up while trying to work.
All that said, amazing progress! I can't wait to be able to use this exclusively. One thing to note is that Ubuntu feels snappier running on bare metal. For now, though, I'll be in parallels.
I had exactly the same problems ...
I removed Oneiric totally . It was just too much crash !
I installed 11.4 ( 64 bit ) run the script again now relatively speaking everything works just fine.
On ( ONERIC ) even I could not run Compiz ! it was crashing ALL THE TIME ! but now is just fine.
- I ONLY HOPE ! Where there is a shell, there is a way -
