I've looked through threads and other forums for about an hour now and nothing has worked. My problem is that only 2 of the speakers are putting out any sound in Amarok, there's no sound in Firefox or VLC. I have 4 speakers and a subwoofer (although when I bought it, it said 5.1 surround sound so I guess there's a hidden speaker or the subwoofer counts as one?). This is a laptop, Lenovo Y530.

When I first used Ubuntu (8.10), I just went into Volume Control or whatever and unmuted the speakers that were muted. But with 9.10, that option is no longer there. Right clicking the volume icon only lets me look at Sound Preferences, and it does nothing to help. There's practically nothing for me to enable/disable, no hardware is listed, and under Output is "Dummy Output". System>Preferences>Sound opens the same windows.

Any suggestions? I'm willing to bet that my other speakers are just muted, but I have no idea where I can change that.

I've already checked my kernel, and it's not Jaunty. I've also tried editing daemon.conf to show 6 instead of 2 speakers. None of that worked. I've reinstalled Pulseaudio, and installed a bunch of other stuff that other guides on this forum said to. Help!! =(
