Could I install Ubuntu up on http://www.cdw.com/shop/products/def...px?EDC=1052098 , and be able to boot from it?

Change Gutsy for Hardy if you want.

    Re: External hard drive

Thank you, looks like just what I need. I have one more question, before I do this, just in case, I want to back up my PC, or make in image of it, so if I mess up and delete every piece of data from my computer, I can pop in a disc and restore Windows completely. I was planning on using acronis home image version 8, have any other/better suggestions?

Why not partition your internal hard drive and install ubuntu there and then use the external as storage for both OS's on your computer unless you don't have enough memory left or plan on traveling with the External HD then i understand

I would rather do it on an external drive so I don't risk screwing up a computer that belongs to my school.

    Wow, thank you.
