I used remastersys to create a bootable image of my Ubuntu installation, burnt the image in a DVD-WR and loaded it in another desktop computer for installation. All the installation processes went smoothly even the password-assigning section where I selected the "(*) Require password on login" radio button. However, on booting the new installation, I was automatically logged into the new account without the password prompt. I thought that was just for the first login so I brushed it off. However, all proceeding login attempts did not require a password and so my account is open to anyone. I checked the settings in System>Administration>Users and Groups and everything was ok. I created a new user account which required password to login, activated it and rebooted For the first time I saw the login prompt. Unfortunately, that was also the only time it appeared. I am using my machine in campus, so with the free internet on campus environment, you can be sure my system is completely up to date. Posting this problem on this forum is my last resort. Someone please help. Thanks and thanks more to the Ubuntu developers for the great job(save for this issue), I love Lucid.Hope Maverick is another great hit, a real 10 out of 10.
