FSV - 3D File System Visualizer - Needs updating for modern Linux

    http://fsv.sourceforge.net/ - Website

    http://sourceforge.net/projects/fsv/...ar.gz/download - Source code (300 KB)

To run fsv, you will need:
    • A Unix/Linux workstation running the X Window System
    • Dedicated 3D graphics hardware (okay, not required but it really helps)
    • OpenGL 1.1 or newer, or Mesa3D libraries.
The program is very old. It is written during either mid or late 1990s. The most recent source code is 2001, so it connects with some old outdated libraries that I've been told Ubuntu does not have.

I'm brand new to programming, so I have no clue how difficult this would be or even how to do it. So I'm looking to see if anyone else is interested in getting this program to run. It looks fun to use and very nostalgic heh.

IT is a remake of FSN, which you might remember from Jurassic Park; "It's a Unix system!"

even a 2d version might be an interesting gimmick (mousewheel zooming on tree diagram?)

I'd really love to run this, as far as I can see I just need gtk 1.2 libraries.. any idea how to get them?

Use what works out best for you, whether it be Windows, Mac OS X or Linux. It isn't rocket science.
