That looks pretty good (except -C-p looks like a typo)

x11vnc listens on 5901 on the remote side, and you point your viewer at localhost:5900 on the local side.
-C-p is a typo. and I use localhost:5900 on the local side, having it only listen on localhost at least reduces the chance of someone connecting from the internet.

The -solid option is highly dependent on the desktop being used. For example it has been broken for years on KDE4 and KDE doesn't fix their interface.
I use gnome and it worked first two times and stopped.


rfbport 5901 is the best way to force a port. x11vnc will exit with an error message if it cannot get that port. With autoport 5901 it tries 5901, 5902, 5903, ... until it finds a free one. rfbport appears to be better for your usage.
