Screen Capture application that can capture scrolling windows

    Hello,

I have attempted to locate something that will suit my needs. I want an application that will capture a scrolling window. Output can be .png, .gif, .jpg etc. This can be either a free application or one that must be purchased.

I want to capture scrolling windows, without the need to "stitch" them together. I have downloaded and tried many of the applications that I could find for linux/Ubuntu and while there are some good ones, none of them perform this simple task. Any ideas, would be appreciated!

    Thank you,
    TAd

some of the apps I have tried:
    Shutter
    Ksnapshot
    gscreendump
    and a few more...

I'd love to know this too....I've checked out several without success so far (Shutter, Gimp screen capture, gnome screenshot tool).

I have done that by using the GIMP tool where the both the files will be saved as 2 images and will them compine them togethere.

    may sound weird

recormydesktop can record what you do and can be played back, you can pause at that point then hit printscreen.

Shutter will do that easily for you. In the main window there's a picture of a globe. Click on that and enter the url of the website. It takes awhile but gets it done

Yea, that is how I currently do it. I'd like to not have to "stitch" it together myself though

I've used record my desktop, but I don't think it can take a print screen of stuff that you cannot see yet from the scollbar...I could record myself scrolling through the bar, but that doesn't help me get an image of it...

Thanks for the tip, I'll definitely check it out when I'm back at my computer. However, what I really want, is to take am image of another application with a scroll bar, it may not be a website (for example, say I want a print screen of the output from a terminal or Scilab)...any ideas on how to do that?

I realize this would be a very tough problem since the screen capture app would have to be able to control the program I want an image of by scrolling the window itself I imagine...

Ah, I see what you mean now. Shutter can't do that unfortunately and I don't know of anything that can.

This feature has already been requested for Shutter and you can follow its progress here

I don't know of a generic one, but there is one for Firefox specifically. If you need Firefox's scrolling window, then install its Screengrab add-on.
