Question Anyone installed Ubuntu on a HP t5325-thin client? Marvell ARM-prosessor

I've been running Ubuntu on some of HP's thin clients with pretty good results. The ones I have used has been based on AMD's Geode processor. The only thing missing is a good graphic chip on it, and I'm looking for alternatives. I'm using it as a Media-PC, playing music and movies/TV-shows, and it can't show 720p video.

But now I see HP is starting to push some thin clients with the Marvell ARM-processor. Anyone got Ubuntu running on this one, and if so, have you gotten OpenGL working?

    Specifications for the HP t5325.

Hmm, seems I need to buy it to find out. I always do this, and hoped not to walk into something stupid this time =/ I'll let you know if I find out.

It would probably be best to contact HP directly to see if it will do what you want it to...

looking at the specs, the best resolution SEEMS to be 1024x768, but I am probably wrong.

Yes, maybe I should ask HP. A little worried I won't get an answer, tried before, and just got some bureaucratic lingo without content back.

Anyway, on a Norwegian online store, this is written about possible screen resolution:

    [...]1680 x 1050 med 16-bits fargedybde og opptil 1440 x 900 med 24-bits[...]

An Ubuntu install is definitely within the realm of possibility, the device is already running Debian.

    Here's a blog entry I just posted: http://my.opera.com/bhtooefr/blog/20...t-running-linu

The GPU is 2D-only, though, so OpenGL will be purely CPU.

Oh, and 1600x1200 (or 1680x1050) 24-bits works. That's what my monitor DEFAULTED to.

    Thanks bhtooefr,
    Interesting reading!

Also, seems your link isn't working anymore, but this one should: http://my.opera.com/bhtooefr/blog/hp...t-running-linu

    bhtooefr,

That is very interesting. I found your blog via this post on the plugcomputer forum:

Thanks for buying the unit and doing the detective work. I would love to see Ubuntu on this, but if I am not mistaken anything past 9.04 won't run on this processor. I do have Debian Squeeze running on a SheevaPlug which runs quite well though:

I may be tempted to buy one of these myself. As of today Newegg.com has them for $179.99:

    Thanks again for your efforts.

I will likely be geting one of these for testing LTSP on Ubuntu. If you're not in a hurry I should be able to post some insights in a month or so (I have to go through a purchaser).

Another thread that also may prove useful about the device:
