Still cant get Mic to work

I have tried many methods to fix my microphone. it does not seem to work at all. it is just a simple internal mic. i dont know any commands to list the specifics. i am running 64-bit Hardy on a Acer aspire 5100.

I have followed several guides such as the pulseaudio guide and the comprehensive guide, including the following:

Open Volume control -> Perference and choose Digital Input Source.
Click on Option tab, choose Digital Input Source as Digital Mic.

No dice
it did record some type of internal noise when i had music playing through amarok. it was very indistuinguishable. when i tried without music nothing was heard.

Open Volume control -> Perference and choose tick all the boxes. In Recording tab, set the volume to max.

Read this. Maybe you'll want to rebuild ALSA, and follow the instruction.

Many user has Mic problem, I had this too when I installed ubuntu 8.04 (I'm using Vostro 1400).
But when I reinstall 8.10 64bit version, the problem suddenly disappear.
Try to search about your problem in Google, maybe you will find a guide to fix it.
