Hi I've installed Ubuntu 8.10,
but sadly I'm having some troubles with the sound:
1.) my headphones do not work at all when I plug them into my laptop so I assume there is something wrong with ALSA...

2.) the sound coming out of the repros is too silent even though the sound is set to 100% in alsamixer... BUT surprisingly when I run alsamixer in console it offers me only one option to control...don't know why ...even in alsamixer gui there are only 2 options to control

I'm using Gnome, Ubuntu version 8.10, Kernel vesion: 2.6.27-7-generic
