8.10 nVidia 177 -> Separate X Screen not working right

Hello,

I just went into Intrepid Ibex from a clean installation, installed drivers 177 for my nVidia 8600M GT then did a sudo nvidia-xconfig to avoid segmentation faults while nvidia-settings'n and then configured my setup (laptop screen + 22" tft) in separated x screens and this was the result:



As you can see the second screen is not fully being used, thus the screen resolution is right, also, when I try to open any app on it my X server hangs up and I have to ctrl+shift+backspace.

I had no problems with 7.10 working this way with separate X screens :S

Any idea?

Turning off visual effects solved this problem for me.

I'm having the exact same problem. What do visual effects do and how do I go about turning them off?

I am having the exact same issue. The second screen briefly is shown in full before ending up with a portion blacked out. Also, I haven't tried using driver 173. Shall try that and post back. But any help will be deeply appreciated.
