I tried installing Xubuntu Hardy Heron 8.04 on my system (this is the first time I'm trying to use Linux). My system is P3 1GHz, 384 MB RAM, and 40 GB hard disk. When I boot from the cd, it asks me to press enter to boot, after that it gets ready, and then I get some flashing white patches on the screen, and after that nothing except a cursor blinking on the top left corner indefinitely, and the hard disk LED blinking red continuously. I even removed the cd after that but nothing happened. I have windows xp installed, so when the above option didnt work, I installed it from windows itself. But after selecting the Xubuntu OS after the reboot I get those white patches and the blinking cursor again. I'm not a complete novice nor very experienced too, please help!
