    2nd opinion

I have a desktop machine thats been water damaged and was wondering if anyone has experienced this, and had a positive outcome. The water made it as high as the cpu. It has a ATI gpu and sata2 hd if it helps, i'm not sure if certain drives are perhaps waterprofof.

The box belongs to my nephew who needs it for an online course, if anyone can suggest a way to repair water damaged components it would be great. I'm going to put the hd in my machine after its been warmed up for a few days to see if it or the data on it is recoverable.

    Thanks in advance...

You might as well toss those parts, in my opinion. It doesn't take a lot of moisture to cause corrosion or to short something out. I guess it doesn't hurt to try, but I would be surprised if they functioned well or at all.

Yeh i'm thinking that too, it was just a thought. I take it the only thing i could save would be the case then.
