    Microsoft Mouse Problems with FireFox

Ubuntu 8.04 installed (dual boot with Vista) on a second hdd.
    FireFox 3.0b5.
    Microsoft Laser Mouse (Desktop) 6000.
The mouse works fine in Vista.
When I boot to Ubuntu and open FF, scrolling is way too fast to even use. If I unplug the mouse from the USB connection and plug it back in, it's too slow. I have tried with both smooth scrolling and auto scrolling enabled and disabled (doesn't make a difference).
While I'm at it, how do I configure my M$6000 keyboard. Other than the main keys, nothing else works (not just in FF, but any where).

    Thanks

Taken a look at System > Preferences > Mouse?

    Herbster,

That was the first place I looked when I first installed Ubuntu. I don't see any setting there to control scrolling. What am I missing?
I've read several posts of people having the same problem, but none of them offered a permanent solution. Disconnecting/reconnecting from the USB port seems to be the only thing that helps. But I have to do it every time I reboot.

    Thanks

    Solution:

Install the FF extension, "Yet Another Smooth Scrolling". Configure the Stride Size Of Scroll and Acceleration Sensitivity.

Now it works great (so far).
