Trying to not sound stupid, but which version number is that? 8.28.8?

    EDIT:

Actually I tested downloading and installing the latest ATI-driver that was actually created for HD2000 (8.41.7) and it increased my performance ALOT! But i still have these UI-glitches that Guinivere shows in his pictures. Ironically, the UI was not messed up before, but then it was all black and laggy (1-2fps) (see pic1).

    EDIT2:

I want to describe my issues more detailed:
    - The game flows at a decent fps (20-30?) and is fully playable in that aspect
    - I get a few graphic glitches, but its a huge increase since i installed latest driver, and its only a few ones every here and there, not a big problem.
    - The game UI is _VERY_ weird-looking and hard to use. Look at my attached pictures to see what i mean...
    - The mouse isnt pointing right, I actually have to point a big down to the right to click on things, which is very annoying.
    - The mini-map also looks messed up and does not seem to work right
    - The movies is unwatchable (both video and sound work 1 second, then it freezes, repeat). I am actually experiencing the exact same problem as i do in windows when the lotro window is not 'targeted', so I assume this is what is causing it.
    - Im not 100% about the sound yet, I could hear it in the movie sometimes but not ingame, but I havnt really bothered. (Im using OSS atm)

Picture1(How it looked with ati driver 8.40.8 ):

A question for those who plays LotRO on linux and have ati; What driver version and wine version are you using?

I know the size and some of the content of the data being sent to the patch server but it is different for US and EU version (the EU version seems to send an additional package first), where it gets what it sends I don't know and how it is encrypted I don't know (but I'm fairly sure the encryption key is send with the inital request or maybe all of the requests/replies).

Using the native launcher has hit another set of errors under wine, there is someone working on getting wine and mono to co-operate but it is slow work. I do try installing .NET with every new wine release but don't get any joy out of it.

So my launcher is basically sticking where it is at the moment unless a change means that I need to make a modification.

Re: Lord Of The Rings Online (LOTRO)?

    Hi All,

I'm having some graphical issues with LOTRO in CrossOver. Large parts of the landscape are see through and I've ensured that the stencil buffer settings are disabled. I have an Nvidia 8800 GTS with 320 megs of memory (eVGA) and dual monitor setup. The nVidia TwinView settings had me stumped earlier as the application would open across both LCDs. I since worked around that by setting up a virtual window for the bottle (with or without the virtual makes no diff to the landscape issues btw). Other then this, the performance is quite good...but the landscape being see through like it is makes the game un-playable

Can anyone think of anything to try?

    Thanks,

    Steve

I would just try it with plain old wine, the latest version seems to have eliminated a lot of issues such as post processing, stencil shadows. I always found performance under crossover with most things was slower than Vanilla wine. It's just a suggestion though.

    LotROLinux-0.5.2
Small bug fix release, fixed a problem causing issues with authenticating some accounts and tidied up the LOTRO/DDO switching code.

Re: Lord Of The Rings Online (LOTRO)?

    Hi Guys,
I recently installed the Gutsy Gibbon Beta for x64, just thought i'd pass on that I've had no issues with Lotro under it, in fact quite the opposite. Overall the game seems to run faster for me, be it the fact that my wireless network card now works out of the box, or the later video/sound drivers and newer kernel. I can't be sure which has made the difference if not all of the above but I can say that I have had a good expierience overall. Anyone else tried it yet?
