Question kubuntu on Desktop PC - Upgrade processor

I have a kubuntu 18.04 distro installed on a Desktop PC with Intel Pentium E2180. I want to upgrade processor, replacing it with an Intel Core 2 Duo E8600. Does I need to make a new installation of kubuntu?

Your Welcome, though it isn't always needful. I feel it better to do a fresh install. Good luck.

you don't have to make new installation of the OS because you changed the CPU. drivers in linux are loaded on each boot. system checks the hardware and loads appropriate drivers from kernel. so you can just switch the hardware and it will boot.

the only specific is proprietary driver (like Nvidia) where the kernel is patched with closed source driver.
Read the easy to understand, lots of pics Ubuntu manual.
Do i need antivirus/firewall in linux?
Full disk backup (newer kernel -> suitable for newer PC): Clonezilla
User friendly full disk backup: Rescuezilla
