Re: Old hardware brought back to life

    You're welcome.
Do you have the option for testing if the problem is solved in 18.04, please?

    Yes, it's fixed.

    Tested using:

    mörgæs,

I am excited about your post. It's so well written and put together. Thank you very much!
I was wondering if you would consider to add a table of contents at the beginning, which would help with navigation?
Also, I am curious why you chose the term "operative system" instead of "operating system"?

    Thanks again,
    Kurt

Good idea. I shall take a look to see how to create it.

As English is not my mother tongue I am happy to receive corrections. What is the difference between these two?

It's changed now. If anyone finds more examples of strange expressions please post them here.

Re: Old hardware brought back to life

    Hello community,

first of all thank you for the work you put supporting old hardware.
I want to contribute to this by compiling a SSE-only firefox-60-esr.
I have an old sempron but available in about 1 month.
Is there someone with a SSE-only CPU willing to test my build https://gofile.io/?c=YKJGpG ?thanks

    @maurer,

Is this what you mean: 32 bit without SSE2 (as quoted from the opening post in this thread)?

    2) Hardware
The main rule is that software in the Buntu world works more or less everywhere. Some exceptions apply, though.

Hardware Age (approx.) Occurrence Examples of applications which don't work Remarks
32 bit without SSE2 2001-2 Rare Firefox, Chromium, Chrome, Skype

Re: Old hardware brought back to life

I guess it must be. The standard Firefox works fine on 32 bit with SSE2.

So, does anyone have a Pentium 3 or an AMD K7?

    Thanks Maurer!
