How about an explanationw hen unstickying a thread?

I didn't really mind so much when the Well-Intentioned Troll thread got unstickied. It wasn't really serving its purpose (letting well-intentioned trolls know we've heard it all before), the discussion was meandering, and the moderator who unstickied it explained why.

But I have to say I'm disappointed that not only was Is Ubuntu for You? now unstickied, but there was no explanation offered as to why it was unstickied.

I believe that thread serves a purpose, and if you look at the follow-up remarks, it's a very encouraging thing to see--and it probably won't happen if it gets buried in the back of the Absolute Beginner forum.

Well, the forum moderators can do as they see fit, obviously, but at least an explanation would be appropriate. Thanks for your time.

I absolutely agree aysiu . I have asked staff to add an explanation post to a thread when they are going to unstick it.
Its good manners and good customer relations to do so.

I have also restuck ( is that a correct word?) the thread in question. I like that thread .

Thanks, KiwiNZ. A simple explanation would have sufficed, but I'm glad it's stickied again.

I unstuck the thread. But I didn't really unstick it.

We are trying a new way of stickies management : moving all the stickies to links in "READ THIS FIRST prior to posting - IMPORTANT links" We are open to suggestions for a better name.

If there are too much stickies around people just don't read them anymore. This is just a test. If the test doesn't work out we'll just resticky the threads in the normal way.

Please let me continue with the stickies management test. Let's just try this.

I didn't inform you because it's still stickied in a different way. There's a thread about stickies management in the staff forum though.

I am relieved. You are a nice guy and I didn't mean to hurt your feelings or offend you.

Do you agree to have your threads unstickied as part of a stickies management test ? There's a link to it in the "READ THIS FIRST..." thread.
