Going beyond 1920x1200 resolution
I'm looking to get a monitor with a higher than the usual 1920x1200 resolution, such as the SyncMaster S27A850D which can display 2560x1440.
Now my question is: do most graphic cards handle this resolution or do I need something beefier ? Note that I don't game, I only do image processing and programming with tons of windows open. From looking at the specs of graphic cards, the highest resolution is rarely indicated clearly.

Re: Going behind 1920x1200 resolution
Modern graphics cards, yes - on the digital output. Most can be vague, as it's dependant on how many screens are attached, I imagine. That said, a quick look at a component supplier shows max resolutions on just about every card. I prefer multiple smaller screens, so I've never had to go that high!

Actually the house will be getting more crowded so I'll have to get a smaller screen instead of bigger...
