    dual monitor resolution

I have a dual monitor resolution question.

I have a Geforce gt640 video card hooked to two acer p221w monitors using dvi cables. When I go into system settings/displays, one monitor is labelled correctly and the other is labelled unknown . Also, the one labelled correctly has a resolution of 1280X1024 which is fine, but the unknown one has a resolution of 800x600. This is not ok. I am not blind. I would like then to both be at the 1280x1024.

So given that I am using nvidia, I bring up the nvidia Xserver settings panel to try to fix this. Problem is, I cant. First off, my second monitor is called DFP-2. The other is named correctly. In the drop down for resolution of DFP-2, there is just auto and off.

If anyone has any thoughts about how I can get both my monitors to be detected correctly, I would appreciate it.

    Thank you

    Re: dual monitor resolution

Im having *almost* the same problem, but my video card is

    GF108 [GeForce GT 430]
My monitors are DELL 17", one is UNKNOWN and 1024 as maximum

I still using the 'native' drivers, the original with 12.10, and Im not sure if replacing with propietary drivers will help
