    Re: off topic forum notice

Canonical does let the forums run and rule over themselves, but that's really to the testament of the forum staff and admins.
I, personally, had a little panic attack when I first saw the banner(thinking I did something bad).
It is nice to see the pending disruption in an announcement, a sticky, and a glaring banner on the top of the page.

    +1 to that.

And lets wish 'em a successful and error-free transition.

Yes indeed as quick and painless as possible.

Canonical do not generally get involved with running the forum, however we have been waiting since 2009 for them to perform a software update.

The team here are brilliant, they deserve better support than they get.

I think this was going on before I was an admin, and indeed while I was an admin, and (evidently) afterwards too. Tis a shame, but at least we're not looking years out of date with the rest of the community anymore. On the face of things, that is.

On a side note - nice touch with the notices bar at the top, it's nice to see it have a header and generally fit in a little better

Nice post on your blog s.fox, I read it with interest, as did my former self andrew.46. Hopefully some of the internal unhappiness within the Ubuntu Forums itself, an unhappiness that spilled over to irc, can be healed as well. My vote for everybody keeping an eye on the big picture....
