    Patience is a virtue.

Open Firefox Preferences, click the Content tab, then click the "Choose" button next to the Language options, remove the Chinese from the list.

I have the same problem but only when trying to open a page from Brother linux Driver solutions. Your recommendation does not help because I do not have the Chinese language in the drop-down box . Only English usa and Eng.
I am using Ubuntu 11.04 by the way . The way around it at the moment fore me is to use another browser namely Epiphany.
