    Here's an xorg.conf for virtualbox (1024x768)

thanks so much for posting that!
I was actually trying to change the resolution of a Debian 5.0 (Lenny) virtual box image i setup, and the "Screen Resolution" preferences dialog had no resolutions listed.

However, since guest additions didn't want to install i tweaked your .conf file to leave out the virtualbox specific driver setting, the monitor option setting, and a couple other items.

here's what my xorg.conf looks like with resolutions properly set to 1024x768, and no virtualbox guest additions installed:

    # xorg.conf (X.Org X Window System server configuration file)
    # This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
    # values from the debconf database.
    # Edit this file with caution, and see the xorg.conf manual page.
    # (Type "man xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)
    # This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only*
    # if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg
    # package.
    # If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated
    # again, run the following command:
    # sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

Hi and welcome, I have moved your post to it's own thread. No need in reviving a 3 yr old thread.
