Hi all,

Over the years I've not had any real problems doing development based out of my home directory. But over the last I've suffered several computer disasters and upgrades, and all my backups have kind of become a mess of home directories with all sorts of libraries here and there and lots of redundant data. Not to mention that finding something I want isn't so simple any more...

So I'm thinking of cleaning this mess up and get set up right.

The current project I have is supposed to run on Google App Engine, and I need python 2.5. So I'm going with a schroot'ed environment for karmic. Setting this up isn't the problem for me... I'm mostly concerned with security and backups. I'd like to keep the data on an external, encrypted, drive.

It would be great to hear what kind of solutions other people have come up with.
