I don't mind the brown, I hate the default look for two other reasons:
1. Ugly title bar buttons;
2. Ugly and eye-hurting fonts.
Regarding the first three points - you might wanna keep your Vista install (dual boot) while you test Ubuntu on another partition, so that you can still do all your important tasks.
With your PC...
I'd say a solid 4. It works good generally, but at the end of the day I still have to boot Vista to enjoy the latest and greatest the computer world has to offer me.
Thanks for posting these links, I regularly read at least half of them :)
Seriously? No can do any better? I've been searching for it too, so if you know about a download link or something, please let me know.
Thanks a bunch!
The "domination" of Windows and Mac OS :) By this I mean that they are proprietary, each copy is sold for profit etc. Ubuntu is not aggressive enough in that way, it sort of floats around for people...
Okay, from what I understand, you followed the instructions and restored grub. Now you can boot into ubuntu but not into xp? The XP boot hangs with a mouse cursor and blank screen, right?
I assume you want to do a clean install (i.e., you haven't installed ubuntu yet).
During the install, you will come across a section called "Partitioning". It gives you some automatic options by...
Free (as in beer) software is most desirable for users. The problem with paid software however is not that it costs, but that it's usually overpriced (in the eyes of users).
I apologize, my mistake.
I might have used this solution on my Gutsy install

Excuse me, but could you actually read the title of the thread in the link before you comment? It actually says 'Hardy Heron', unless I'm hallucinating.
Have you tried this fix?

Have you tried the fix for those packages you mentioned?:
It fixed ff3 crashes for me. This was written by the guy who worked on...
I followed part B in the following tutorial
to fix a problem like yours. Check out the other sections too, if you...
I learned with Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing back in 99'. It was a real pain and an exercise in patience more than anything, but it's one of the most useful things I've ever learned. Perfected it in...
however this is a support section of the forum and I think this should be moved?
If I were you I would borrow/buy one and test it. You can't be sure it'll work if you don't know the source of the problem you have.
Yes, you will just need to install the necessary codecs first.
First, check that you have all repositories enabled in System > Administration > Software sources.
Yes, you sure can. You'll have to do it through another application than iTunes though (I use Amarok).
A very nice article and instructions on the excellent psychocats website:
