Thx for the reply.
I have a working install of Ubu 20, which I installed about 18 months ago when I lost my old install. Somehow, Grub was corrupted and I was never able to access the partition...
Thx for the reply. I don't think UEFI is the reason why Grub won't load on that old Linux partition, but it doesn't matter since I use "MBR/UEFI Dual Mode" so I can boot old USB thumb drives when...
Thx for the reply. I uploaded the results to Pastebin here.
My Windows-11 boot drive (no Grub) is "nvme0n1p1" (a 120GB partition on my 500gb M2 boot drive).
I believe the old Linux boot partition...
Thx for the reply.
Despite having used Ubuntu off/on since v9.03, I still feel like a Newbie. I'm not sure where to find "the pastebin link". Rather than use a LiveCD (and failing to get a working...
Once upon a time, I had Ubuntu installed to a partition that I used for a couple of years, but somehow, the bootloader was corrupted. Now, if I try to boot from that partition, all I get is a Grub...
Thx for the reply.
Apparently, I needed to reboot after uninstalling the old driver before trying to install the new one. It worked this time. :P
I'm trying to update my nVidia driver to the latest proprietary release.
I successfully uninstalled the old/default driver (now using the "Nouveau" Open source driver), downloaded the latest...
Thx for the reply. Fortunately, I didn't have to go thru all that. Simply re-enabling the CSM in Bios was all I needed to do.
I don't think Ubuntu needs/benefits-from a GPT boot record, so there's...
Thank you for clicking my topic.
I've had a Dual Boot setup with Windows and Ubuntu for years, but after "upgrading" to Windows 11, my Ubuntu partition no longer appears in my (Bios) boot menu.

I have a 500GB M2 drive in my PC that I've split into a 120GB boot partition and a 350GB data partition. The first partition auto-mounts and is fine. The extended/data partition is not only ignored,...
I might have come across a minor... albeit annoying... bug in the Gnome desktop. I have all of my physical drives set to be auto-mounted at startup.
I replaced a dying drive with an identical make...
By "Above" I meant "After".
I need to make my boot partition larger, but nothing seems to permit it.
I tried GParted from a LiveUSB, as well as various Partitioning apps from Windows, and nothing will allow me to increase...
Hmm. the grub efi command refused to work. I didn't have "permission" to chroot either. :-x
SO, I tried installing/running "Boot-Repair" again. This time it worked. And despite telling me to enter...
ATM, I can only run the LiveCD (from a Flash drive). Fixing the MBR of my Windows' drives appears to have wiped out Grub, forcing me to reinstall it.
I just now performed the command shown in Post...
Is there a way to delete the old Grub menu and reinstall via the LiveCD w/o reinstalling Ubu itself? (Reminder, "Boot Repair" won't install or run on my UEFI machine.)
TIA
Unfortunately, "Boot-Repair" refuses to install either (giving me similar reasons/errors.)
I can however boot into my original Ubu 20.04 LTS install (I'm in it right now), where I already have...
Hmm. Whenever I try to "update-grub", I get the same error:
error: failed to get canonical path of `/cow'.
All attempts to run "efibootmanager" respond: "EFI variables are not supported on this...
Help. I need to edit my Grub Menu but every help article online tells me to install "Grub Customizer". But when I try to add it to my computer, I get the following error:

Big thanks for the reply.
"Unfortunately", I couldn't wait any longer to find a solution to the issue. I ended up moving the PC next to the router last night so I could connect the Ethernet cable...
Sorry for the delay:
Running the commands with Sudo this morning actually produced less information. I'm not sure these will be helpful:
Thx.
Thanks. Here are my results:

Hmm, I executed the commands from the terminal (Copy/Paste. Didn't retype) and it didn't appear to have any effect (I did reboot.)
When Ubu starts, I typically (always?) have a connection, which...
Update: I'm noticing I stay connected for about 15 minutes when I first boot into Ubu. Logging off & Restarting is the fastest way to reconnect.
Very annoying.
