  1. Re: `systemctl start SERVICE` does not start all of SERVICE@*

    I have a feeling there is some other file that says which config files openvpn should start by default. Maybe /etc/default/openvpn?
    I could be wrong, it's over ten years since I configured OpenVPN,...
  2. Re: Trouble nagivating to /home directory in terminal

    As others have pointed out, the home directory is lower case "/home", not "/Home".
    But that's not your home directory. That's the directory that holds all user's home directories. As your username...

    Because I was in a hurry when I scribbled that note. Doh! You are quite right - you need to allow it out, of course. Sorry.

    Re: Firefox Snap as Default in 21.10

    Hmm. I'm going to have to find an alternative browser. That's a shame - I have used firefox since it first launched.
  6. Re: Root and EFI mounts show on Dock (Launcher) ?

    You might be able to make them go away by making an entry for them in fstab. I hide some partitions from my desktop that way, configure them for noauto so they don't actually mount. But having an...
  7. Re: "ping: sendmsg: Operation not permitted" after setting UFW to deny out || 20.04

    Bump because I've significantly edited my last comment. In case linuxyogi is still in need of an answer, I think that may be it.
  8. Re: Ubuntu 20.04 21.04 how disable or remove totally the nvidia nouveau driver ?

    I could be wrong, but I suspect that setting modeset=0 does not disable the driver, but simply changes how the OS changes video modes, for instance when switching between TTY and graphical modes....
  9. Re: "ping: sendmsg: Operation not permitted" after setting UFW to deny out || 20.04

    I originally said I couldn't find how to specify the direction (in/out) when entering a rule. My apologies - I just didn't read properly. It's there under "RULE SYNTAX".
    The protocol you want to...

  11. Re: "ping: sendmsg: Operation not permitted" after setting UFW to deny out || 20.04

    I don't know. How did you configure the firewall in the first place? There are many firewall configuration utilities, each with their own rules and files. Look to configure the rule in the one you...

    This is very interesting, and may help: https://veithen.io/2014/01/01/how-tcp-backlog-works-in-linux.html
    I suspect your server is slow getting through its workload. Increasing the backlog should...

    [SOLVED] Re: How Split HD into equal size?

    It's my understanding that one of the four primary partitions has to serve as the "extended" partition which then becomes a container for the "logical" partitions 5 and upwards.
    This command will...
  14. Re: "ping: sendmsg: Operation not permitted" after setting UFW to deny out || 20.04

    Allow ping requests out:

    iptables -A OUTPUT -p icmp --icmp-type 8 -j ACCEPT
    Ping is a type of ICMP packet. Type 8 is a ping request.
    Type 0 is an echo reply, but as long as your incoming rules...

    Re: Deb or snap

    I strongly dislike snaps:
    * They are slow to start up
    * They don't always work, can't read/save files sometimes
    * They fill up df, lsblk, mount command output with garbage
    * They won't...
