I have an old dell workstation i scraped dust off of and booted. Had an old intrepid install with md raid 1 on 2drives. I put a 12.04 alpha2 alt x64 boot disk and reinstalled, reconfigured md raid...
so when kernel updates are out via the repo these steps need to be redone, correct?
Edit: yes.
any chance an update in oneric will have builtin support? or we looking at precise pangolin for...
Would the same have to be done on oneric? or less steps needed?
Can you detail the kernel you installed? and how?
and where did you get the 3.2+ patches for the wifi?
thanks
so when does kernel 3.2 hit so we can get wifi going? oneric?
Just because it does a bit more than iptables. Its like a mix of iptables, fail2ban, logwatch, and maybe a few more in one. Alerts sent if server load avg is high, ping flood detection, etc.
...
anyone ever look at this? http://configserver.com/cp/csf.html
i've never used on a desktop but on a server its very good. Gives me a bit more piece of mind over iptables alone.
uhm yea its fine in that it works. But everyday in my logs on every server publicly exposed to the internet there are attempts to login with various scripted names via port 22. By simply changing...
Consider moving your ssh port from 22 to something else. that will block a lot of attempts alone. also i'd recommend against not installing any webadmin, phpmyadmin, etc. half the scripts that run...
vsFTPd can do everything you want and I'd argue more secure and better than any other ftp server out there. maybe this post would help others get the config they want in vsftpd...
I had tried setting up an apparmor profile for apache but now its just causing all kinds of grief. My logs are filling up with stuff like:
type=1502 audit(1312435921.994:54686): ...
any wifi dongle's you find work better/worse in linux?
So there really is no solution to the wireless yet? Even with natty if i get myself a nice new 17" sandy bridge mac I have no wifi.....
that stinks...
I'd love to know any tweaks you did or anything you did to get the wifi working. I really want to upgrade my 17" 5,2 to the 8,3 but looked like there was a bit i'd have trouble getting to work. ...
twinview? i thought twinview was an nvidia thing and this is ati/amd?
so if i were to get a new mbp and put the latest natty on it there are logs and device ID's i could send you to see how much we could get working?
I'd love for natty to work well on it out of the...
I have a Macbook pro 5,2 and use nvidia twinview for multiple monitors. Nothing else has really worked well. What would be the best option on the new MBP's just announced that now just have AMD...
i run lucid 10.04 on my macbook pro 5,2. no issues except maybe wifi could be better.
I don't recommend killing osx altogether. just run the bootcamp and shrink it down as small as you dare but...
yea virtual users. you should be able to google it pretty easily. I use the db4.6-utils for the local password file for users.
ok i googled for you, this seems to be pretty close to what i did:...
force the filezilla client to not use pasv and see if that works. that's not a solution but it would be helpful in diagnosing the issue here.
in filezilla for the connection click on the transfer...
so you really like the open vm tools better than the ones from vmware?
even with your esx 4.1 issues?
luckily i'm still on 4.0 u1 but seems a bit hacked.
I have a few linux servers in esxi and unlike in windows where i always install the vmware tools, i never do in linux.
for the linux servers i don't need any video drivers or mouse integration...
Great thanks. I see you avoided question 2 ;)
since my current svnadmin dump takes so long is there way to do the dump, then load while users are still using the old repo and then do it again...
Just want some feedback on a few questions. Probably more opinion based but I'm on the fence.
We are moving our production svn server to a VM. It is currently on a physical server ubuntu 8.04 with...
