    as stated above I do not have the problem you describe so no gerneral OS issue.

    But there seems to be some DNS issue maybe you are affected try changing your DNS and test. Have a look here...

    And does this work for you?

    In my case dri does not work because of some version mismatch.

    So please edit this howto, and tell people howto compile the driver from source or howto install only...
