I wish I had a solution. But it just started working again. I guess Sound is a fickle beast, kinda like a cat. One day it works fine, another day it doesn't, another day it works.

I am definitely getting frustrated at the lack of sound, while Windows 10 sound works fine. If I deleted KUbuntu (again) and instead installed Linux Mint, would that solve it once and for all? Since...
*UPDATE*
I found a temporary "cure"... installed PulseAudio. That fixed it for a day. Now, it does not work, it says PulseAudio is installed but I have no way of restarting it. I can't kill it since...
Yesterday, sound worked fine (always works fine on Windows10), today nothing. No sound. In lspci, this is the audio info:
00:01.1 Audio device: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Kabini...
Nope, I could not do it. So, I deleted those partitions (leaving Windows) and repartitioning/reinstalling Kububtu 18.04 and Plasma. No Cinnamon this time.
Now that I restarted it, it goes to the login screen, I put in the login information, click "Login", and it freezes. I even tried logging in via the earlier Linux version, but it still freezes....
I see a lot of posts that upgrading to 18.04 "bricked" their PCs. That is not the case for mine. I use KUbuntu 18.04 with Cinnamon (I don't really like Plasma). Yesterday, I did the system upgrades...
Must be a weird software "bug". It all of a sudden started working again. What did I do? Nothing other than reboot.

My sound worked when I installed KUbuntu 16.04 and Cinnamon (I ran Plasma for a while, but preferred Cinnamon), now it does not work. I scoured the Internet to find diagnostics (including here),...
I actually "solved" it by uninstalling Thunderbird and installing Evolution. And I like it better already, since it has a calendar for my Google Calendar. GMail and Yahoo work fine in it. It's...
I've looked online and here, but the question isn't answered for the current version: what do I need to do to read GMail in Thunderbird 52.6? It's not imperative, as my primary e-mail is Yahoo, but I...
I was able to get sound going, Wi-Fi and everything works right out of the box. Now to tweak it to the way I want it :)

Just trying to play a generic audio file that came with the KUbuntu install. Windows10 Device Manager shows both AMD HD Audio Device and Realtek HD Audio, same with the playback section of Device...
Actually, I looked and found out it was a bad USB install. I was able to get into the LIVEUSB. I will try it later tomorrow to see if I can get it installed. At least video, WiFi, and touchscreen...
I even tried booting in Legacy (not UEFI) Mode, same error. Even tried with Virtualization disabled, still the same error. I see online that this is a "bug" reported to AskUbuntu, but it was in...
Yes, I used RUFUS to create the USB disk, my apologies for not mentioning that part. It was created, I booted from it (UEFI, not Legacy, not sure if that makes a difference), and got that error...
I downloaded the ISO for KUBUNTU 16.04 LTS, through Windows 10. This is a brand new system, model 15-cd075nr (touch screen), with 8Gb RAM and AMD A12 processor and AMD graphics. Once I downloaded it,...
Now that I think about it, it might just be time-hog (and now memory-hog) Facebook. Using System Monitor, Memory shows 48% taken, Swap is 0.5% taken. When I meant "slow", I would type a sentence, but...
I could not find the EXACT reason or fix for this online, so I thought I would ask a new question. Over the last week, my Dell Inspiron E1505 with 2Gb RAM and Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Unity Desktop) has...
Dell's XPS laptop comes with Ubuntu 12.04.

I deleted the rarely used partition, resized (and renamed) the new one, reinstalled GRUB, and now everything is ok. I haven't found any damaged data, but it was backed up just in case.

This is only for tablets, meaning Android can't be used on it. But, Intel may...
Just thinking along the lines of Windows/DOS, is it possible to delete sda7, and resize sda8, keeping the UUIDs (so it will still boot into Ubuntu)? Can it be done in Disk Utility or does it have to...
I see how I can change the "/" mount from sda8 to sda7 using Disk utility. My concern is, how do I move GRUB to sda7 (if not there already)? I don't want to set it to sda7, and not have an MBR/GRUB...
