    From menu, push "e" to edit, then go to "linux" line. At the end remove "quiet & splash". Push F10 to boot. You should see what's hanging up.

    I will defiantly try it out. I use it exclusively for Windows right now. No problems whatsoever. Don't assume your views are the same as everyone else's.

    How did you check the number of processes at startup?
    I was always concerned with services, which has about 50-60, while an Arch install had 9 !

    I have zero problems dual(triple) booting Windows, Linux. I use separate partitions. Then again everyone has their own experience.

    Use apt-get instead of apt, then they will stay.

    sudo apt-get install --download-only <program> Will download only,then you install.
