  1. Re: Google Chrome full screen mode broken?

Maybe an kernel or graphics drivers update triggered the problem. BTW, how about posting your hardware specifications, namely the graphics?

    Re: Wine Error

Not all software works with Wine.
  3. [ubuntu_mate] Re: Will System76 pre-install Ubuntu-MATE?

You you checked their website you wouldn't need to ask here.

It's the default PoP!_OS or Ubuntu. You can install anything you want.
  4. [ubuntu] Re: Running Ubuntu on a multi socket x86_64 server

    Exactly!

The premise in the OP is nonsensical.

@rinjo2 - Please post the hardware specifications as complete as you can. The number of CPUs/cores is totally irrelevant.
  5. Re: Existing OS not recognised by live DVD and Scroll Arrows on Ubuntu

Any Windows 8 or newer as Fast Startup (=hibernation) enabled by default. For a dual-boot users must disable it and shutdown before booting the Ubuntu installation media.

    And installation media...
  6. Re: Slow connection via Panda Wireless PAU06

    Welcome.

Old Ralink chipsets or newer Mediatek ones are not the best choice for Linux. The driver works but very likely not as good as the proprietary drivers available for Windows.

    Maybe...
  7. Re: how to create a portable ubuntu usb?

    Welcome.

Just install Ubuntu normally to the USB drive or burn the ISO as "live with persistence".
  8. [UbuntuGnome] Re: Sound stops working on Asus zenbook US 362FA, when booted into ubuntu after windo

    Welcome.

Please try disabling Fast Startup in Windows followed by a shutdown.
    Then boot Ubuntu and test.
  9. [kubuntu] Re: Original Windows installation to avoid warranty being voided

You're confusing support requirements with warranty.

Typically, in consumer line of products, only one OS version is supported, the one bundled/preinstalled. Professional, servers and whatnot...
  10. [ubuntu] Re: How do I preserve or recreate my (I think is grub) dual boot

In BIOS/Legacy installations dual-booting with Windows 10 is often a problem when Windows install those lengthy updates that require one or more reboots. So, make sure that Windows Fast Startup is...

[ubuntu] Re: Grub - Add windows

Seems fine but, again, only 1 or 2MB is enough. Anything larger is a waste of space.
  12. [Zorin] Re: How Can I Install Realtek 2.5gbe Driver in Ubuntu for My M/B Network Card

What drivers are you trying to install (link)?
    The command seems (very) wrong...
  13. [ubuntu] Re: How do I preserve or recreate my (I think is grub) dual boot

Most people installing Ubuntu ONLY will have no trouble either.
The "trouble" comes when people want to dual-boot for which another set of knowledge/skills is really required, there's no way around...
  14. [SOLVED] Re: Is there any (easy) recovery tools from unsuccessful upgrade

    Recapitulating...
This all started because you decided to do a release upgrade that wasn't urgent, 18.04 is supported until 2023!
That failed for reason we may discuss latter on this post without...
  15. [ubuntu] Re: How do I preserve or recreate my (I think is grub) dual boot

    Not really.
With some luck it actually saves some people from themselves and future readers benefit from the implicit warnings.
  16. [ubuntu] Re: How do I preserve or recreate my (I think is grub) dual boot

Obviously you need to change the order back to the drive where Grub is installed and that should be done BEFORE reinstalling Ubuntu otherwise it'll will replace the Windows bootloader in the other...
  17. [SOLVED] Re: Is there any (easy) recovery tools from unsuccessful upgrade

    Exactly! =d>
  18. [SOLVED] Re: Is there any (easy) recovery tools from unsuccessful upgrade

    This is a joke, right?
Any major Linux distro is far more robust than Windows in that regard.
But nothing is immune to user errors and insufficient knowledge about proper system maintenance.
  19. [ubuntu] Re: How do I preserve or recreate my (I think is grub) dual boot

Is your computer so old that you had to do a BIOS installation? With the newer UEFI system in UEFI mode there's no such problems.

If it really is BIOS/Legacy with Windows and Ubuntu in different...
  20. [ubuntu] Re: Error when installing/uninstalling with apt-get.

    I'm so sorry.
    Corrected above for future readers.
  21. [SOLVED] Re: Is there any (easy) recovery tools from unsuccessful upgrade

Do you have backups, don't you? If not you can boot a live session and save the personal files somewhere else.
    Then install from scratch.
  22. [ubuntu] Re: Running Ubuntu on a multi socket x86_64 server

Why wouldn't it be? Please check with the manufacturer for officially supported OSes.
  23. [ubuntu] Re: Error when installing/uninstalling with apt-get.

In that case you have other problems with packages that are above my pay grade.
  24. Re: TP-link t4u(Realtek 88x2bu) doesn't connect to network after reboot

    Welcome.

There's a section here specifically for Networking & Wireless.
Furthermore there's a driver for that chipset already in the Ubuntu repositories:

    sudo apt install rtl8812au-dkms
  25. [ubuntu] Re: Error when installing/uninstalling with apt-get.

"nvidia-340" and "nvidia-340-updates" are two different driver versions of the same branch, one is 340.xx and the other 340.yy where, supposedly, yy > xx.

Try using the GUI Additional Drivers to...
