    Re: Finally got my Kindle

I am a new Kindle user as well and have been using it heavily. The battery life will not disappoint! 2 weeks of almost constant use and I am at half battery.

    [ubuntu] Re: Encryption

That does not seem very easy or convenient. I guess if I go with System76 I could always just re-install ubuntu, choose encryption, then reload the drivers.

I just wanted to bump this up, I just noticed that I am having this problem as well...wonder when the fix will be released? The bug report shows this as triaged whatever that means.

[all variants] Re: planning for Netbook

Why not get a System 76 netbook for about the same price and know that everything is going to work out of the box?
  8. Re: Shifting the Right of Way to the Left Leaves Some Samoans Feeling Wronged

    [ubuntu] Re: Firefox 3.0.12 available

The last annoyance I had was the whole OpenOffice lack of upgrade for 8.10...now this firefox 3.5 failure. These are things which should be priorities to update...even in the middle of a distro.

Re: Has anyone ever emailed Shuttleworth?

Not exactly apples to apples comparisons there lol...but Warren Buffett takes lots of time to talk to people. That is why he is referred to as the billionaire next door, he is very down to earth.

Ok I have never heard of this before and I had to wikipedia his name but that video is disgusting to the max. What the hell?!

Jaunty is going excellent right now for me. I have everything set up perfectly and it seems to be rock solid stable. I doubt I will even upgrade to anything else unless I abolsutely have to (and I...

    Re: which free email?

There is just no comparison to Gmail. Yahoo beats them for storage space but their interface is horrid and they do not support IMAP unless you pay. Gmail all the way.

    Re: Making money for Ubuntu

I would love for Canonical to develop computer specific distros (that 100% work in every way out of the box) and possibly sell them, either to OEMs or to individuals. I know I would pay some money to...

Re: Google Chromium browser alpha for Linux

  18. Re: Have you ever bought a "new" router to find it's a refurb packaged as new?

Legal action over a $60 router? Get real please. No moving parts=no care. Its a router not a car...if it works then just use it, if it doesn't return it for another brand.

[ubuntu] Re: sound suddently stopped in 9.04

This happened to both of my Jaunty computers yesterday. I fixed it by hitting the "test" button under sound preferences. For whatever reason that made sound work on flash videos. Strange it happened...
  20. Re: Why OpenOffice is not being used by corporations?

Google Docs or an equivalant will take over long before Open Office ever does. IBM's Symphony is pretty excellent too.

  23. Re: Best app for bulk resizing of images for uploading?

There may be an easier way but I just use the export feature of Google Picasa, it allows for batch quality changes and resize.
