I think he means that one of the downsides to linux is there aren't many apps for setting things up where you check checkboxes, click mouse to bind, etc. You have to know all the commands and what...
  10. Re: HOWTO Configuring Logitech mice in Ubuntu 6.06 32 bit, based on endy's HOWTO

With updated evdev, both side buttons continue being button 4. I think it's a parallel problem. Can't get much information on it though because their forums are dead.

    In parallels:

    Left mousebutton:
    button 1

  12. Re: HOWTO Configuring Logitech mice in Ubuntu 6.06 32 bit, based on endy's HOWTO

    Hey detyabozhye,

When I go into xev and test my buttons with my mx518, my Scroll Up and two side buttons are both being registered as button 4. What's up with this?
  13. Re: HOWTO Configuring Logitech mice in Ubuntu 6.06 32 bit, based on endy's HOWTO

    Odd..

I installed Ubuntu in a virtual machine using Parallels, and went to setup my mouse in there and can't get the buttons to work.

When running the command cat /proc/bus/input/devices I get...

  15. Re: HOWTO Configuring Logitech mice in Ubuntu 6.06 32 bit, based on endy's HOWTO

It appears I finally got it working. Thanks detyabozhye!

    Quick question.

In your Xmodmap example you had 32 buttons setup.

I kept getting errors to get it down to 9, so I deleted most of the...
  16. Re: HOWTO Configuring Logitech mice in Ubuntu 6.06 32 bit, based on endy's HOWTO

Yeah and I remember it giving me an error about /input/mx518 not existing.
  17. Re: HOWTO Configuring Logitech mice in Ubuntu 6.06 32 bit, based on endy's HOWTO

I don't even know what that is.
  18. Re: HOWTO Configuring Logitech mice in Ubuntu 6.06 32 bit, based on endy's HOWTO

I get a bunch of these errors when I try to load X. I can't see the rest of it because I'm at a command prompt and can't scroll up.

Anyone know what's going on here?
  20. Re: HOWTO Configuring Logitech mice in Ubuntu 6.06 32 bit, based on endy's HOWTO

    sigh...

I can't get any of this to work. I have the mx518 mouse. I'm running Ubuntu 6.06 Dapper Drake. I downgrade evdev in the details provided at the beginning of the howto.

    My xorg.conf is...
