    sudo find /path/to/folder* -mtime +7 -exec rm -rf {} \;

    It works as a cronjob daily to purge files older than 7 days

    Another reason (as I have found today!) is that gparted was used to partition the disk when fdisk is called to check the status.
    Just thought I would throw in my 10 pebbles worth ;-)

    You are using the device /dev/sdx as opposed to the partitions /dev/sdxn - where n is the number.
