  1. Re: Multi-booting on Gigabyte GA-EP43T-UD3L

Windows has to have MBR to boot in BIOS mode. Your system is BIOS.
But Ubuntu can boot from gpt partitioned drives if you have a bios_grub partition. I suggest gpt has it has some advantages over...

Dennis is correct, you do not even need either ESP or bios_grub on a data only drive.
Its just I have no data only drives. Or even if planned now to be data only, I may want a system on drive later....

[all variants] Re: Grub errors on dual boot installation

A lot of the early UEFI implementations were buggy. Vendors did fixes, Linux created work arounds and now most UEFI work, many still require some settings in UEFI and/or boot parameters.

Re: error with the grub: grub rescue

That error often is an old version of grub.
Or you are booting in wrong boot mode. Check boot mode in UEFI/BIOS.
Do you have both UEFI & BIOS versions of grub?
May be best to see details, use ppa...

I am to the point of saying only use MBR if you must boot Windows in BIOS mode on same drive. Otherwise use gpt.
I have used gpt since 2010. Time for MBR to go away.
