Bump: new kernel update 3.13.0-31 installs /proc/sys/abi/ldt16.
Successfully running older 16 bit code after "echo 1 > /proc/sys/abi/ldt16"
What the security implications are, I can't say.
Yes, my installation of MS Money 2001 refuses to load. Stuck with wineboot.exe hogging 100.00% of CPU.
No idea myself, unfortunately!
Hey Ripon thank you! I've been cursing my ISP for slow dns look up, then I implemented your advice and the difference in DNS lookup time is startling! :)
Fixed in the latest updates this morning. MUCH better!
Thanks for that; added myself as affected. It's eye-wateringly unplayable!

Basically all you have to do is:
sudo -s
echo "options ath9k nohwcrypt=1" > /etc/modprobe.d/ath9k.conf
Great, this worked for me too! I now remember doing this some months ago before doing a full re-install, but foolishly I didn't make a note of it.
Press ESCape and then enter!
Just dug out old Vodafone dongle! If you left-click on the network connections in the notification area do you see: "New Mobile Broadband (GSM) connection..."?
Hi, here's a LINK to Vodafone's Betavine open source development site. Hope it helps.

If I then follow the link to google.co.uk the strange font...

And thank you from me!
Go here and follow the instructions - works brilliantly! Never give up!
Didn't find any processes but had to reboot: Shades of MS!
