    Ah I like Gnome for its stability (though I like better KDE), but it seems Gnome2 to Gnome3 is much more of disaster than KDE 3.5 to KDE4.

    And that's bad for us the usual enthusiasts.:D:P

    No, su - is not the similar to sudo, just read man su. The first option explains it.

    What you might thought as an equivalent to sudo is su -c.

    These things are stored in the file /boot/grub/grub.cfg.

    Make a copy for backup and edit this file with administrator privileges.
    You'll find there the sections which are to be deleted or...

    GRUB2 is trying... But can't find it... :cry:

    Look at (hdx,y) in your /boot/grub/grub.cfg

    GRUB counts partitions starting from (hdx,0) and GRUB2 starts from (hdx,1).
    GRUB2 broke the count...

    Open applications you want to start automatically at login.
    Close those apps that you don't want automatically started.

    Go System-->Preferences-->Startup Applications and chose tab...

    You can run it as a normal user


    firefoxand as a superuser


    sudo firefox.Look at the terminal output while FF is running.
    If you close that terminal FF should close too.

    Kelvin temp. scale is actually the Celsius, but shifted about 273 degrees centigrade (which means Celsius scale) toward "minus".
