This is an interesting idea; did you ever get it to work?
to answer my own question; as of QT 4.6.1 the QGtkStyle respects gtk-enable-mnemonics, so to disable the stupid underlined letters everywhere:
echo "gtk-enable-mnemonics = 0" > ~/.gtkrc-2.0 &&...
Any one managed to figure this out? Really obnoxious imo, all the QT apps have underlined letters in the dialog boxes and menus :(
Take a look at dvd95 in the software center. I think it can do what you want.
Turn the affected computer all the way off, and then boot off of the usbstick. Try the instructions I linked again, posting the output of each command.
Those instructions are for grub 1, not for grub 2 which is what Ubuntu 11.04 uses. Try following these instructions: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1014708
Good luck!
Ok, thanks everyone for the great feedback :) I think I'll take haqking's (and others) advice and use this to start building a portfolio with and to learn. Thanks all!
I am putting together a wordpress based website for a customer of mine. She wants a custom designed website and has provided me with a layout that she wants through a friend of hers. Now, I am...
Wubi installs Ubuntu inside Windows. You don't have to partition anything, which is quite nice. However, Ubuntu will be installed on NTFS (Windows' file system) which is slower then ext4 (Ubuntu's...
The same symptoms occur under the LiveCD.
is the filesystem ok?
sudo touch /forcefsck
sudo reboot
first thing I would do is ddrescue (sudo apt-get install gddrescue) the entire disk onto another bigger drive, and then try to recover the files.
ok, I don't think it is a short in the cable, simply because if it was a short in the cable, I would not be able to consistently reproduce the exact same behavior every time. Perhaps it is a...
Unfortunately I only have one cable for this drive, and I don't have any other USB3 devices. However, if it was a short in the cable, wouldn't USB2 be affected as well?
Do you have any idea where...

Also, I just noticed that plugging my USB3 drive into the working USB3 port causes all other USB ports on that side of the laptop (left side) to stop working at all.
Banshee works great with the iHardware from what I have heard.
have you looked into system76 at all? They preload Ubuntu onto the laptops, but you can easily set up a dual boot.
Hi everyone, I thought I would share my experience with my new Gazelle Professional :)
I needed a new laptop mainly for virtualization, I run a small little business doing tech support and my Core...
Yes, and both the USB 2 ports work fine -- in fact, all of the USB ports work as expected (including the second USB 3 port) except for this port (USB 3 port closest to the back of the laptop).
So,...
scan your filesystem for errors by doing:
sudo touch /forcefsck
and reboot. See if the problem persists then.
I don't exactly know what I am talking about, but if I understand correctly, what you need to do is install mono develop from the software center and recompile your program under that.
rebooting Ubuntu is one way to fix that message.
ok now a usb2 drive is working, but my usb3 drive (which also is a usb2, not sure if that is typical or not) still throws the "unable to enumerate" error. Do I need to update the BIOS?
