    You can write to /tmp/usrsize.txt which may be better.

    Run without error redirection.

    du -sh /usr
    du is not somthing I use.
    Try different options
    eg

    du -sh --apparent-size /usr

    The conky execi command runs a command at an interval to reduce cpu use.
    eg ${execi 1800 du -sh ~ 2>/dev/null | awk '{print $1}'} will run du every half hour.

    It's all there in the lua section "--[ Graph for / ]--"
    Just check the x=16,y=738, line.
    At the moment the the graph is being positioned 16px from the left and 738px from the top of your conky...
