I have this problem that in other cases too but mainly when I listen to music in spotify the volume goes to zero almost everytime a new song starts. I tested this trick and restarted Ubuntu.

Works on Hercules Dualpix HD Webcam also. Tested with amsn messenger, abit slow though, maybe the camera is slow I don't know.. Picture perfect. Thanks for the guide.

Same problem with my 32-bit compile (tested with both dapper and edgy), "touch .dc++/hashData.dat" fixes it for me as well.
