Re: VirtualBox Vs Wine - Process

Whether it's Windows, Linux or Mac OS. I just use and recommend others to use whatever OS suits your needs.

  4. [SOLVED] Re: print a list of all file types in a folder?

Holy crap, even after 10 years Unix usage, I've never seen a command look like that. Well done. :-)
  5. [SOLVED] Re: print a list of all file types in a folder?

What is wrong with good old
    ~ $ ls

You might also find the tree command useful.

    ~ $ sudo apt-get install tree

    ~ $ tree

Re: Are computers getting harder to use?

I think in general the changes are for the better, even though I may not roll with all the changes myself. I don't use Unity and I don't use GNOME Shell. I use IceWM+Terminator. And for me, that's...

Re: Are computers getting harder to use?

I don't think it's getting harder. It's just changing at a rapid pace which makes it harder to keep up. Probably more for the older folk.

    [SOLVED] Re: make ubuntu faster

Ubuntu as a whole is not the problem, just the desktop environment it chooses. Once a different environment is installed, it's great!

    [SOLVED] Re: make ubuntu faster

Ubuntu can seem bloated straight out of the box, yes. You can generally speed up the computer by removing anything you find you're not using or not going to use and also install and use a different...

  24. Re: Do you run light OS on your high end system?

I think I probably bog my system down too much of the time. I run 2 Linux systems via VirtualBox on top of my regular system which also usually has my Email client and Web browser open all the time....
