  1. [SOLVED] Re: Problem installing Gnome Commander and Tux Commander on 12.04.1

For those who haven't found the fix yet:

    gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface ubuntu-overlay-scrollbars false

That's it. If you want to run Tux Commander as root, then you need to run...

[all variants] Create e2fsck output on autocheck

As intended, e2fsck runs automagically every 30-odd boots on my system. I have no problem with that... but I'm impatient. I want a progress bar or some kind of output when it runs on boot. (I...
  3. [SOLVED] Re: GCC/Linker cannot produce executable code (crtbegin.o on 10.04)

I went ahead and copied the contents of 4.4 over... and suddenly I can compile again. It's probably wrong, but it's getting the job done until I do a clean upgrade down the road.

    Thanks for your...

  5. [SOLVED] Re: GCC/Linker cannot produce executable code (crtbegin.o on 10.04)

Oh-HO! While there's a full install under /usr/lib/gcc/i486-linux-gnu/4.4/, I also have /usr/lib/gcc/i486-linux-gnu/4.4.3/ . And that latter only has cc1 in it.

So the best question here is this...
  6. [SOLVED] Re: GCC/Linker cannot produce executable code (crtbegin.o on 10.04)

Reinstalled, but no dice. Is uninstalling and explicitly reinstalling any different than what I just did?
  7. [SOLVED] GCC/Linker cannot produce executable code (crtbegin.o on 10.04)

I'm not sure if this is a linking error or a GCC error, and it's system-wide. I'm not sure when exactly it introduced - but it impacts anything where you have to "configure" first.

[ubuntu] Re: Upgrading from 10.04 LTS

Okay, but I think I've got the same issue as the first poster. I've tweaked out 10.04 exactly the way I want it. I've taken out all the cruft I didn't want. I have no desire to change WM, app...

[ubuntu] Re: [SOLVED] Re: 11.04 laptop gdm keyboard issue

Yup, that's exactly what it was for me. I suspect it might have had something to do with the uninstall of Ubuntu Tweak (or Compiz) that's the only change between now and the prior boot.

    Thank...

Huh - I just started having this problem with 10.04 as well after uninstalling some things (including Ubuntu Tweak) - will give this a shot!
  11. [all variants] Re: Pulseaudio command to turn up / down volume via terminal

I was using this up until... well, today. Unfortunately, using the ALSA mixer causes problems when you're dealing with multiple sinks in PulseAudio.

  12. [other] Re: [pulseaudio] volume control with multimedia keys ?

I'm using a ruby script that actually changes all sinks at the same time - which comes in handy when you've suddenly started using an external USB speaker and all your keybound scripts work with only...

[ubuntu] Re: 10.04 upgrade to 11.10/14

Do you think that's GNOME3's fault? Like I mentioned, I use OpenBox as my WM and DE. I used BBwin back when I used Windows, so the *box variants are pretty intuitive for me.

    I primarily use...

    Re: Humble Indie Bundle 4

GSB is reorganizing their forums, so the old link to the forum topic doesn't work. That said, the new .deb (posted 2011-12-14) works beautifully for me so far.

For clarity's sake, that should also get it to show up in earlier versions (such as 10.04) if you're using a launcher like Synapse, Launchy, etc. Not sure if it automagically shows up in the menu...
