There seems to be a common problem with dual-booting 9.10 with Vista/Win7. I'm having the same issue, as are many others.
Your best option might be to try to overwrite GRUB2 with the Vista...

I hate to say it but GRUB2 is looking like a disaster. I've been multi-booting various Linux distros and windows versions for years and any problems with GRUB (legacy) not detecting a windows install...
