    Upgrading from 16.04 LTS to 18.04 LTS

    If you're considering upgrading from 16.04 LTS to 18.04 LTS my suggestion is don't try it.

    A much better approach is to get a thumb drive or usb drive; download the 18.04 ISO installation image....

    Had a 4 hour power failure.
    Machine successfully automatically rebooted when power was restored.

    You are correct that my instructions are for grub legacy. Because I was starting in Windows 7. The loader reading the menu was Neogrub which is apparently of grub legacy vintage....
