After the upgrade, my mouse cursor freezes randomly for anything between 0.5 to 1 second, and then comes back to life.
This happens both on...
I'd like to install nvidia-prime to enable optimus on my Thinkpad (Ubuntu 13.10, Kernel 3.11). However, I understand switching is not yet available on the 3.11 kernel and (might) be available on...
Had the same problem - jackd is still running.
In a shell run:
ps -Af | grep jack
Find the process id of jackd and kill it
That should do it.

After the Graphic chip's death the SSD worked fine once attached via a usb enclosure to an old laptop running 10.04. Maybe it was its last breath... I should've backed it up at that point - serves me...

I had the same problem for a very long time now. In my case I also had a motherboard replaced on my Thinkpad T61p which was not exactly the one I had before, resulting in no way to get into the Bios...
Gnome classic under Gnome shell (3) looks pretty bad and the panels don't operate as they used to.

Unity 2D seems to perform better on my crippled laptop... Wish I could have the skype notify icon show up...
Why release products if they are not complete? Did MS bought Canonical or something?
I have one more detail to mention which I just discovered - this happens in Unity 2D for me. When I run the standard Unity it works ok, and I have my skype notification.
I'll switch to standard...
Hi,
I'll spare you from my Unity woes except one major problem: Skype notification icon is not showing in Unity's bar at the top right. Yes, I have set the systray option to ['all'].
What is worst...

Thanks fdrake, that worked. I don't know why this behaviour changed all of the sudden. Maybe one of the latest updates from canonical...
