OK, well I will try them both out once I learn more about which driver to use with the NVIDIA. The system76 has a bigger screen so it would be nice to use that.
Good to know. Wikipedia says (when comparing Haswell to Ivy Bridge) "Up to double the performance of the integrated GPU." Cool!
Thanks for the advice!
Yeah I wish I had that option. My work requires me to be constantly traveling.
I think I have a panp5 and I had no issues installing Ubuntu 12.04 as far as I can recall.
Hi Ximaceo,
Thanks for summarizing (I wasn't sure what the important parts were, although I should have gotten rid of the empty fields)
Yes, it is true that the System 76 Pangolin has an HDD. I...
I haven't played a game in a decade so I am completely ignorant about video cards and the like.
I thought that the GeForce one would be faster, but when playing Bastion, the Intel one performs...
Can anyone recommend a good modern game that is like Raiden that I can play on Ubuntu? I'm interested in open and closed source. I've searched on Steam and haven't found one. I finally found open...
For the future you might get more information with the '-v' and '-vv' options of ssh.
+1. Customer service is great. When I was searching for a laptop and compared ones *with similar specs*, I found that they were about the same price. I'm not sure how it is now.
This worked for me briefly, but after a few days it stopped working. I wonder if it was an update that broke it or something else.
Any advice?
I still can't use League Pass without it being...
Hi avidwan, welcome to the forum!

I was not running sudo update-grub (which was clearly documented in the comments in /etc/default/grub). Now the output of free confirms that "total" mem is reduced by 16 bytes. So I have confirmed...
I would like to use memtester as a way of testing whether badRAM is working (or rather, if *I* set badRAM correctly). If it's working, the memory shouldn't be accessible by memtester, right? I ran...
I would like to archive say, 1000 files of about a megabyte each. If one of the files gets corrupted, it's not that bad of a loss and I can still use the other 999. Should I store them unpackaged? Or...
ok, thanks for the advice. I thought that was a bad idea, but I couldn't think of anything else.
Do you have any other ideas? I need to kill NetworkManager right after startup (or maybe 20 seconds...
I need to run the following command in a script for a workaround:
killall NetworkManager
However, I get
NetworkManager(8515): Operation not permitted
NetworkManager: no process found

I'm trying to figure out what wireless card my panp5 has. I looked up the order on system76.com but it only tells me that I paid an extra 25.00 for it.
Specifically, I'm trying to figure out which...
Sounds reasonable. Do note that Virtual Box is extremely easy to set up.
Glad to hear! Next time please use an informative title for your thread.
Also, you should mark this thread as solved.
Why do you prefer this to Virtual Box? I'm sure there are reasons, but I am curious.
Mike,
You're handling the trolls well. Try not to let them get to you (and don't feel obliged to respond).
Keep up the good work!
Good job figuring that out! I don't think I would have been able to solve that myself. Also thanks for posting back your solution. That's always good to see and will be useful to someone in the...
You might want to try the Alternate CD install. It is a bit slower but has more options and sometimes works for me when the normal cd doesn't.
