  1. Thread: Grsync Problem

    by TheFu

    [ubuntu] Re: Grsync Problem

Ensure the backup storage is actually mounted before you run grsync?
What most likely happened was at least once, grsync got run when the storage wasn't mounted.

I don't use grsync, but there are...
  2. Re: Is possible disable logrotate or all logging ?

You could change the settings for logrotate and mount a ramdisk to /var/log/ to prevent hitting disk, but you'll want to be able to re-enable this (or have a toggle) to aid with troubles. Plus,...
  3. [SOLVED] Re: KVM/QEMU bridged mode Packets not getting to guest

Hummm. I figured there was a way to do this, just never became an issue since only 10 VMs get created / year here.

virt-manager connects to different hypervisors from a workstation using...

I'm with scorp123, though I can't block the USA. ;) That's where SquidbillyLand is located!

  5. [SOLVED] Re: KVM/QEMU bridged mode Packets not getting to guest

That seems much harder than I would have thunk. I don't do anything special inside the libvirt config. Hummmm. Sometimes, I'll want to bring up a toy desktop and NAT is good for that type of system -...
  6. [ubuntu] Re: Logrotate says syslog does not need rotating

    I'm on 20.04.2,

  8. [ubuntu] Re: Help! - Rescue my linux box before I wipe it / networking

Disabling the VPN stops it until the next boot, doesn't it? Perhaps it needs to be mask'd?

    sudo systemctl mask [email]openvpn@openvpn.service
which will prevent it from starting until you...

Re: Is using Bluetooth bad for security ?

The last time I was cracked was at a conference ... over bluetooth ~ 2015. I'd wiped the system the day before, did a fresh install and fully patched. It was not connected to wifi or wired ethernet...
  10. [ubuntu] Re: Printer won't print internet sourced files; other files work fine

Perhaps you could clarify what "internet sourced files" means, exactly? Seems like you could just save the file locally, then print it.
Also, maybe if you said which Ubuntu release you are running...
  11. [SOLVED] Re: KVM/QEMU bridged mode Packets not getting to guest

If I don't do something dumb at least once a day, I start to worry. ;)
When I hit 10x in 1 day, it is time for a beer and sleep.

[xubuntu] Re: Increasing KVM network interface to 1Gbps

Most people using a GUI would use network-manager.
Netplan is for non-GUI setups (i.e. servers) and for people like me who hate network-manager with a passion.

    The difficulty happens when someone...
  14. [SOLVED] Re: KVM/QEMU bridged mode Packets not getting to guest

So - no chance of posting the working netplan.yaml file?
This is on of the last reasons I haven't moved our VM servers to 20.04.
  15. Re: Why is GRSync failing transfers for permission errors?

Show the permissions for the source and the target, so someone might be able to help.

  16. Re: High GPU usage when playing video (mplayer, VLC, etc)

If the CPU is being used, then the GPU hardware decoding is not being used. That's why a $75 Chromebook plays 1080p youtube videos, but struggles to open a libreoffice document - the built in GPU...

The cobbler infrastructure to push installations to other systems doesn't work on 20.04 Ubuntu. A CentOS or RHEL server is needed for that. I know the Ubuntu devs have a bug open about that...
  22. [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu dmraid ONLY show 1.6TB in 8TB mirror

MSDOS partition tables only support 2TB. To get beyond that, a GPT partition table is required. That's my first guess. It might not be correct.

sudo fdisk -l will output the partition...
  23. Re: Ubuntu 20.04 - Creating /home partition after a LUKS installation

You should know that the installer with LUKS encryption will also include LVM, so you'll need to learn that as well. LVM is a "Logical Volume Manager", so a single partition will be created and LVM...
